A german word that combines Weg (way, path) and Freund (friend).
It loosely translates to "a friend for the journey."

We're Wegfreund Games, a fully remote studio based in Munich, Germany founded in 2025 with a big love for games that you just can't put down. We want to build what we'd love to play ourselves, stay close to our players, and aren't afraid to try new ideas.

True to our name, we want our games to be Wegfreunde: Companions for the journey, always there when you need a good time.

We are currently working on S.T.A.R.V.E. (WT)

S.T.A.R.V.E. is a sci-fi 2D top-down deckbuilding game where you work as a lone contract farmer for the mega-corporation S.T.A.R.V.E., struggling to grow crops on hostile alien worlds. Using a deck of tactical cards, you cultivate bio-engineered plants, survive environmental hazards, utilize a unique combo mechanic to create powerful synergies that boost cards to their limit and race against tough seasonal quotas.

The core gameplay revolves around building and refining a deck of action cards, which players use in discrete turns to interact with a grid-based environment. The goal is to grow and protect plants to fullfill a seasonal quota. The deckbuilding aspect drives tactical decision-making, allowing players to tailor their strategy through customizable card combinations. The turn-based format emphasizes planning, sequencing, and resource management. The space setting brings environmental hazards, and dystopian corporate themes, giving the game a unique mix of survival farming and sci-fi satire.
